Emergency First Aid for Forestry (EFAW +F)
Is this course for me?
The Emergency First Aid for Forestry (EFAW + F) Level 3 qualification is ideal for workplaces with risk assessments indicating no requirement for a fully trained first aider (FAW).
If you are required to be fully First Aid trained, the First Aid at Work for Forestry course will be more suitable.
Does this course meet the standard I require?
Our courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured, meeting guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2017. They also meet the requirements of First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981 and 2016.
This qualification meets UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 as per HSE requirements. VTQ qualifications are fully recognised by the HSE as Trade Body Qualifications.
Is blended training recognised?
Yes, good news! In May 2016 the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer-based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses.
The blended course meets all requirements of the HSE and Awarding Organisations and is available as an IPS Safety Training or Regulated Qualification.
How do I renew this qualification?
Your Emergency First Aid for Forestry (EFAW + F) certificate remaions valid for three years. There is no specific requalification course, you simply resit the course again. However, the new course you take will include all of the updates since your last qualification.
Is there a minimum age requirement?
Our courses have a minimum age requirement of 16. You must be over 16 years of age to take an IPS Safety Training course.
Can I earn CPD (Continuous Professional Development) points?
All IPS Safety Training courses have been independently certified as conforming to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines. Certificates and qualifications that we provide include a CPD statement as well as the IPS Safety Training certificate. For online courses an evidence based learning statement is also provided.

How does the blended training course work?
A blended course gives exactly the same qualification as if you had attended a traditional classroom course. The difference is that the course is split into two parts.
Part-one includes various theory-based modules presented in short videos followed by brief multiple-choice test questions. This allows you to stop, start and repeat each section at your own pace. All you require is a smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC with an internet connection.
Part-two is taken once you have completed part-one. This part of the course allows you to put the theory into practice. With the help of an instructor and the necessary equipment you will learn to apply your knowledge to various first aid scenarios.
You will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and build your confidence.
